Robert Storm Petersen
19.9.1882 – 6.3.1949
As the son of a butcher, Robert Storm Petersen started as a butcher's apprentice, but his artistic spirit dominated, and he finally made a name as an author, actor, painter, draughtsman and cartoonist. Among other things, he worked for Klods Hans, Blæksprutten and Lurifax. His humorous and satirical lines are also seen in his posters. His most important posters were in advertising, where the most famous is probably the poster for Tuborg showing Perikles, who proclaims that Tuborg tastes best every time. Robert Storm Petersen’s posters are characteristically precise, in a slightly naive style with clearly tragi-comical tones. He used clean, clear colours in simple colour schemes.
