Otto Nielsen

3.2.1916 -17.10. 2000

Otto Nielsen trained at Gustav Bachmann’s drawing academy in Aarhus.

He began working as a commercial artist and produced drawings for newspapers, among them Aarhus Stiftstidende, with which he was affiliated from 1937-1953. He began to design posters in the mid-1940s. He is best known for his colourful and dramatic posters for SAS. The pictorial and material style of the posters sometimes approaches an abstract fragmentation, adding a dreamlike shimmer to the overall impression.
