Laus Lauesen (officially named Lauritz Martin Lauesen) was best known for tourist and advertising posters. He travelled to Paris to draw already when we was 17 years old and was engaged at ‘Today’s News’ (Dagens Nyheder) at his return to Denmark. From 1949 to 1956 he was affiliated with Politiken, designing advertising posters and illustrating the books of songs from its publishing house. He also produced many front-page drawings. Laus Lauesen afterwards travelled to Stockholm and worked freelance for the advertising agencies Harlang and Toksvig among others. Laus Lauesen's style is lively and colourful. The general expression is monumental, as can be seen especially in the Sclerosis poster. The artist suffered from the disease himself.
