Gitte Kath graduated from the Danish Design School in Kolding in 1972.
From 1974 to 2015, she was a set designer, director and scriptwriter at Teatret Møllen (the Mill Theatre) in Haderslev, and also a member of the theatre’s collective management team. She has designed posters since the mid-1970s, first and foremost for the Haderslev theatre. All her posters have a deliberately sensual materiality. By utilising all sorts of things of different types, they evoke an almost tangible, physical sensation. For several years Gitte Kath has been keenly involved and a prominent figure in international poster art, both as a jury member and practising artist. In all the diversity of her work, her theatre posters are the most outstanding.
