It became clear early on that Finn Nygaard would become an artist and designer. He took lessons in croquis at the Academy of Art in Aarhus, and had to have a dispensation to be allowed to attend, because of his young age. He completed his training in 1977 at Borge's Graphic drawing office in Aarhus. For many years, Finn Nygaard has been deeply involved in international poster art, sometimes on juries or international committees, but also as a practising artist, at countless exhibitions around the world. Characteristic for his own productions are the strong and surprising colour combinations, and he likes to see his posters produced in large formats. His motifs are often playfully imaginative, and a beating pulse of music can be felt in the swirling movements of his jazz posters.
