Arne Ungermann trained as a lithographer, and a couple of years later, in 1924, was employed in Politiken’s advertising department. He became the newspaper's regular draughtsman from 1930. Ungermann also worked as a book illustrator, and among other books illustrated Palle alene i verden. He is also known for his vignettes for the TV series, Matador (1978-81). His extensive poster production often expresses his message with a surprising twist and plenty of humour. Arne Ungermann's posters are easily recognisable by their characteristic elegant lines and often almost surrealistic expression as, for instance in the Use your eyes and the Pedestrian Crossing poster.
