In 1942 Aage Rasmussen passed the Drawing Society's (Tegnerforbundet) examination for commercial artists after he had studied at the Technical Society's school and the Danish Design School, and then worked as a commercial artist at the Bergenholz Bureau. Aage Rasmussen has drawn a wealth of forceful posters, and is a leading poster designer internationally as well as in Denmark. His great idol was the Ukrainian-French poster artist, Adolphe Jean-Marie Mouron, better known as Cassandre (1901-1968). Both expressed themselves in a voluminous idiom, gathering up the point of the poster in a single dominant element. Aage Rasmussen is best known for his advertising posters and posters for Danish Railways. He made his breakthrough in 1937 with his Express Train poster.
